The Department of Children and Family Services’ Baton Rouge Region hosted their monthly Community Collaborative meeting on Tuesday, June 18th , at the CVS Workforce Innovation and Training Center/Community Resource Center (WITC/CRC). Community stakeholders and organizations working with foster parents discussed the needs of foster families in our region. This was an opportunity for organizations to connect and network with community partners, learn what’s needed, explore how you can be part of the solution, help build a supportive network, and create a brighter tomorrow for Louisiana children. Foster caregivers provide safe, caring homes for children and youth until they can be reunited with their families, when possible. Are you ready to BE THERE for a child or teen who needs a home? Copy and paste the link to register. https://lnkd.in/eZMeZpcE . The WITC/CRC is located at 5353 Essen Lane, suite 150, inside the Essen Centre, is designed to build CVS's talent pipeline and raise the community's skill set and allow Aetna Medicaid customers and other community members to access on-site health assessments, resources, and education.

Today, the CVS/Aetna Workforce Innovation and Training Center/Community Resource Center (WITC/CRC) hosted a Cooking Demonstration from Eva Davis, Nutrition and Community Health Agent from LSU Agriculture Center East Baton Rouge Parish. Eva led us in preparing healthy chicken and vegetable quesadillas and demonstrated ways to modify quesadillas for different types of vegetarian diets. She also talked about consuming whole grains instead refined grains, the consumption of more fruits and vegetables in your daily diets, plus reducing the consumption of sodium "salt" in their foods. Our next Cooking Demo is June 28 at 10:00 AM. Eva will grace us with her presence again on July 26 at 10:00 AM.

Invited by my good friend Blaine Grimes to join and attend the Louisiana Jumpstart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. I attended my first meeting on April 23, 2024, at the Louisiana Bankers Association building on Bankers Avenue. It was a pleasure to hear from EBR Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome as we celebrated National Financial Literacy Month. The EBR Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and Governor Jeff Landry proclaimed April Financial Literacy Month in the State of Louisiana. Get ready Baton Rouge and Louisianans, The Jumpstart Coalition is here.
